The idea of the Blog is to post successes and failures in Green Gardening. I live in rural Ireland and the garden was until 2000, half an acre of former farmland - in other words, nitrogen pellet-infested, badly drained.
Nine years on it is divided into normal and wild / unkempt areas. It has a wildlife pond too which has worked well.
By the way, I don't go for the whole new Green ethos. In fact I believe in Science. I don't worry about carbon footprints, man-made global warming or any of that nonsense. Nor do I wear Tibetan hats. My "theory" of Green Gardening is to make a natural-looking garden which the kids can enjoy too (they like the pond). We also have chickens so we get more eggs than we can use.
You can take the man out of Essex, but you can't take Essex out of the man. It is good to know you do not espouse the eco-chondriac claptrap. I love carbon, and carbon dioxide because they are fundamental to life, being compoments of all essential nutrients. All the best with the green garden, and I hope you get the better of the bugs and weeds. JD.
